antique-doric-china-longton-floral-bone-china-side-plate
Antique Doric China Longton Floral Bone China Side Plate

A softly squared outline and scalloped rim give this Doric China side plate a different presence from a conventional round tea plate. Cobalt panels frame orange and yellow flowers, green star motifs and small gilt accents around the border. It adds geometric colour to a setting of English bone china and tea and coffee table pieces.

The existing identification records a printed Bone China, Doric China, Longton, Made in England backstamp. This names Doric China and connects the plate to Longton in Staffordshire. The supplied research places the Longton mark in a broad period from about 1926 to 1948, but the plate itself is not presented with a dated year. Its combination of squared form and bright ornament is consistent with interwar decorative tastes without proving a single production season. The selectable variant grades it Very Good and reports no chips or cracks. That is a supplied condition statement, not an independent assessment of every edge or potential hairline from images. The backstamp and shaped border are the details that make the identification and description specific.
