The retained gold label reads Cheval Ceramics, a South African ceramics business founded by Johnny de Beer in 1980. The upright ears remain visible above the textured forelock, while the folded legs create a low silhouette. The contrast between smooth body glaze and applied strands is the main display detail. The cream colour allows the modelling to be compared with tan examples without a patterned coat competing for attention. For comparison, the Joy China 4082 Glazed Terrier Dog Figurine provides a related example in the store.
