The supplied identification places manufacture at Boksburg East Potteries in South Africa. The larger lower body supports a smaller bulbous upper section beneath a small circular opening. With no handles or relief band, the vase relies on its changing outline and glossy black surface for decoration. The double-gourd description refers to these paired volumes, distinguishing it from single-bodied posy vases and the maker's long, low mantel forms.
