Description

The dense floral surface of this Chinese export porcelain plate is characteristic of the famille rose export tradition at its most decorative. Pink peony-style blooms, smaller blue, purple and green flowers, gilt-toned outlining and a scalloped visual effect across the surface combine to create a plate that reads as richly ornamental rather than restrained, placing it squarely within the mid to late 20th century Chinese export decorative market.

The reverse carries a confirmed Made in China export stamp together with a red apocryphal Qianlong Nian Zhi style seal mark. This type of marking is best understood as decorative export wording rather than evidence of an 18th century Qianlong period piece. The style may be associated with later Macau or Hong Kong decorated export porcelain, but as the plate itself is not Macau-marked, the safest catalogue wording remains Chinese export porcelain.
