Description
At 30 cm tall, this Crown Devon Linton cobalt blue lidded coffee pot is one of the most commanding pieces in the Crown Devon decorative range, the deep cobalt blue glaze with its gilt detailing to the handle, lid finial, and rim giving the piece a formal elegance and visual authority that makes it a natural centrepiece for any Art Deco-inspired display or curated English ceramics collection.
Made by Fieldings Crown Devon of Stoke-on-Trent, one of the Potteries' most distinctive mid-century manufacturers, this coffee pot in the Linton pattern is an example of the bold, colour-led decorative pottery for which Crown Devon was celebrated. Fieldings, which traded as Crown Devon from the early 20th century, was known for its willingness to work in strong, saturated glazes and confident decorative forms, and the Linton pattern, with its rich cobalt blue glaze and gilt detailing, is one of the house's most striking and collectible designs. The coffee pot form, at 30 cm tall, is the most substantial piece in any tea or coffee service, and the combination of the deep cobalt blue glaze with the gilt handle, lid finial, and rim detail gives this example a decorative richness that rewards display in good light. The piece is in very good condition throughout.
