Description
A long neck and angled spout lift the painted windmill scene on this hand-inscribed Delft Blue ewer.
The blue and white ceramic ewer measures 22 cm high and 12 cm wide. It has a rounded body, tapered neck, angled pouring spout and loop handle, with a windmill scene framed by floral decoration. The underside reads 140, Delft Blue, Handpainted and Holland. These inscriptions state the origin and describe the decoration but do not identify a particular pottery or production date. The tall form gives the landscape a vertical setting, while the handle and spout define the vessel as an ewer rather than a conventional vase. No use beyond decorative display is claimed. It is recorded in excellent condition with no chips or cracks noted, and the base inscription provides the clearest evidence for its description.
