Description
Blue flowers and leafy stems decorate the pale cream ground of this round Distel ashtray. A scrolling foliate border surrounds the central flower, while three pairs of moulded cigarette rests interrupt the rim at evenly spaced points.
The underside bears a thistle emblem and the wording Blauw Delfts, Distel, SCR. Handpainted and Made in Holland. These supplied markings identify the piece’s Dutch origin and its stated hand-painted decoration. The listing records it as vintage, but no exact production decade is confirmed. Its broad circular form gives space to both the central floral composition and the scrolling border, linking its practical design with the decorative language of Dutch blue and white pottery. Each ashtray is sold individually; the photographs form part of the condition description for the listed item. Related pieces appear in the Delfts ceramics collection.
