Description
Clipped corners and broad sloping shoulders give this Flora-Ann planter a geometric outline. Its recessed rectangular opening runs along the top, while glossy olive and deep green tones emphasise the contrast between the flat sides, angled shoulders and narrow rim.
The supplied identification places this piece in the South African Flora-Ann range, associated with Robertsham, Johannesburg. The supplied history gives a broad production period of 1951 to 1972, rather than establishing the exact year of this example. Its geometric form and green glaze are the defining details of the individual piece. The supplied identification records Flora Ann model 78. The base photographs accompany the listing; the supplied model identification remains the reference where the impression is indistinct. Related forms and makers appear in the South African Ceramics collection.
