Description
Glossy black glaze, colourful abstract decoration and gilt detailing distinguish this miniature Nova jug, whose rounded body rises from a small pedestal foot. An angular handle and flared pouring lip give the compact form a clearly defined silhouette.
The underside carries the crowned Flora Gouda Holland mark, the pattern name Nova and model number 99. The supplied identification places its manufacture in Gouda, Netherlands, with an estimated production period of the 1950s to 1960s rather than a confirmed individual year. Its combination of colour and gilt provides a contrast to the blue floral decoration represented in the store’s Dutch pottery selection. The small scale makes the relationship between its rounded body, handle and foot particularly noticeable. Related pieces appear in the Gouda pottery collection.
