Johnson Brothers, founded in Hanley, Staffordshire in 1883, were among England's most prolific producers of transferware tableware, and their Willow pattern pieces are among the most widely collected examples of the design. The printed backstamp reads "Johnson Brothers", "Made in England", "Genuine Hand Engraving", "Dishwasher and Microwave Safe", and "Willow", placing production in the later 20th century.
