Description

An English ironstone side plate by Johnson Brothers, decorated in the traditional Willow pattern with the classic landscape of pagodas, a bridge, trees, a boat, and birds in cobalt blue on a white ground, framed by detailed geometric and floral borders. The durable ironstone body and well-printed decoration make this a robust and attractive addition to a Willow pattern collection or table service. Measuring 13 cm in diameter.

Johnson Brothers, founded in Hanley, Staffordshire in 1883, were among England's most prolific producers of transferware tableware. The printed backstamp reads "Willow", "Johnson Bros", "England", "All decoration under the glaze", "Permanent acid resisting colors", "A genuine hand engraving", and "Ironstone", confirming the maker, pattern, material, and English origin. The backstamp is consistent with vintage 20th-century production. The plate is in very good condition throughout, with no chips or cracks.
