Description

Vertical scrolling ornaments frame opposite sides of this green pedestal vase, giving its elongated body a decorative rhythm. A gently flared rim opens above the rounded shoulders, while a circular foot supports the form. The glossy speckled glaze lightens over the raised scrolls.

The owner attributes this piece to Lucia Ware. Its South African origin and estimated mid 20th century date depend on that attribution, rather than on a confirmed maker signature. If the attribution is correct, the piece belongs to the Lucia Ware range associated with Boksburg East Potteries. The exact production date remains unconfirmed. The supplied attribution is Lucia Ware, with model number 466. The photographed base shows a numerical impression but no clearly readable maker name; the number alone does not establish the maker. Related forms and makers appear in the South African Ceramics collection.
