Description

A sweeping horn and open curled end define this black Lucia Ware model 3002 cornucopia vase.

The underside bears the impressed LUCIA WARE mark and model number 3002. The supplied identification places manufacture at Boksburg East Potteries in South Africa. The broad flared opening carries moulded linear details, while the opposite end curls into an open scroll. Raised decoration sits above the shaped pedestal base. Its asymmetrical outline allows comparison with other black Lucia Ware display forms, especially the balance between a wide opening and sculpted supports, without implying a shared model or production date. For comparison, the Lucia Ware Black Ceramic Mantel Vase Style 5803 and the Lucia Ware Large Black Ceramic Gondola Planter Vase Style 6008 provide related examples of form, decoration or maker within the store.
