Description
A small South African ceramic pixie figurine attributed to Lucia Ware. The seated character has a pointed dark-green cap, blue eyes, golden hair, a cream jacket with green and ochre painted details, and peach-coloured trousers. Measuring 8.5 cm (height) × 4.5 cm (width). It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or damage.
The figurine is identified as Lucia Ware from the supplied attribution and comparison with documented Lucia Ware pixie figures. Its hollow slip-cast construction, whimsical seated form, glossy glaze and loosely hand-painted decoration are consistent with Lucia Ware fancy goods.
The figurine is attributed to Lucia Ware, produced by Boksburg East Potteries in South Africa. No impressed or printed maker’s mark is visible on the open underside, so the attribution is not confirmed by a mark on this individual piece. It is considered a mid 20th century piece, consistent with Lucia Ware production of the 1950s and 1960s.
