Description
Burgundy flowers, leaves and curling stems form a central bouquet on this scalloped ceramic wall plate. A repeating floral border, dotted accents and burgundy rim lines carry the decoration across the cream ground towards its shaped edge.
The reverse bears the crossed-paintbrush mark of M. de Wit with Delft, Holland and Handgeschilderd, meaning hand-painted. Further painted references include number 935 and initials JP, while two hanging holes are formed in the foot ring. The supplied identification places manufacture in Gouda, Netherlands, and records a production period of 1961 to 2000; the exact decade remains unconfirmed. The Delft wording is retained as part of the mark, without treating it as proof that the plate is made in the city of Delft. Its burgundy palette distinguishes it within the store’s Dutch floral pottery selection. Related pieces appear in the Delfts ceramics collection.
