Description

Three small feet lift this pansy-decorated cup above its matching saucer, giving the set a distinctive cabinet shape. Purple, cream and yellow flowers appear against the pale porcelain, while a pierced handle and gold-coloured detailing bring attention to its silhouette. Its floral subject makes it a pleasing companion to other tea and coffee table pieces.

The photographed underside of the saucer shows no visible factory mark, and the supplied identification reports no marked cup or pattern number either. Neither the maker nor country of origin can therefore be confirmed. Similar footed floral cups occur among mid-twentieth-century export wares, including Japanese examples, but similarity is not evidence for assigning this particular pair to a Japanese factory. The existing listing grades it Excellent and reports no chips or cracks. That is a supplied condition assessment rather than a hands-on verification; the pierced handle and three feet especially warrant careful physical inspection. The decorative flowers and shape provide a reliable description without a speculative provenance. For more context on the decoration and identification, see the Journal guide to marks and backstamps.
