Description
Long drooping ears and a feathered coat give this seated SylvaC spaniel its gently attentive character. The glossy black-and-white glaze brings a clear contrast to the model, drawing attention to the dog's silhouette and the moulded detail of its coat.
The underside bears the impressed SylvaC catalogue number 18, identifying the model within the maker's range of ceramic dog figures. The recorded origin is England and the period is mid 20th century. Its seated pose allows the ears and coat to remain prominent parts of the composition, while the restrained two-colour finish distinguishes it from more softly shaded animal pottery. Measuring 13 cm high and 14 cm wide, the figure offers a compact subject for a shelf or cabinet display. The impressed number provides a useful reference when comparing related SylvaC models, and the Figurines collection places it alongside other decorative animal subjects.
