Description

Iron-red flowers, cobalt panels and green accents give this King Street Derby cup and saucer a richly patterned Imari-style surface. Gilt edging follows the angular handle and shaped rims, making the paired forms particularly effective in a display of antique English porcelain. The set belongs naturally beside other tea and coffee table pieces.

The identification records a painted crowned Derby-style mark on the saucer with crossed batons, a script D and S and H initials. That combination is associated with the King Street Derby works, including the Stevenson and Hancock partnership and subsequent Sampson Hancock production. The mark on the saucer supports the attribution; the matching decoration links it visually to the cup without independently marking the cup itself. The photographed pattern takes its colour inspiration from Japanese Imari ware while retaining the character of English porcelain made for the tea table. The condition is Excellent, with no chips or cracks reported. For more context on the decoration and identification, see the Journal guide to Imari-inspired ceramics.
