Description
Compact in scale but rich in detail, this Broadhurst The English Scene small dish carries a cobalt-blue pastoral landscape of anglers beside a river, mature trees and a distant castle. The neat ironstone form makes it an easy piece to display in a blue-and-white collection or use as a small decorative dish.
Made by Broadhurst of Staffordshire, the dish is decorated in the maker's The English Scene pattern. The printed backstamp reads “Broadhurst’s”, “Staffordshire”, “Est. 1847”, “Ironstone” and “Made in England”. The establishment date belongs to the company and does not date this individual piece. Its production is consistent with vintage Broadhurst tableware from the second half of the 20th century. The dish is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or damage.
