Description
Leaf-vein relief spreads across the burgundy body of this scalloped pedestal vase, attributed to Drostdy Ware.
The piece is unmarked and is attributed to Drostdy Ware of Grahamstown, South Africa, based on the identification supplied by the owner. No maker’s mark or model number confirms this attribution. The moulded leaves follow the flared outline, with the raised veins catching the light against the deeper glaze in the recesses. The circular foot lifts the leaf-shaped body above the surface. The decorative form permits comparison with marked Grahamstown pottery, but resemblance alone does not establish the maker. For comparison, the Drostdy Ware Blue Flared Pedestal Ceramic Vase and the Drostdy Ware Dark Cobalt Blue Rounded Vase provide related examples of form, decoration or maker within the store.
