Description
Brown triangles, curved lines and zigzags encircle the pale yellow body of this Hamburger’s Pottery model 206 vase.
A ceramic vase with a broad, rounded lower body, tall flared neck and small circular foot. The glossy pale yellow glaze has fine speckling, with a band of brown geometric decoration featuring triangles, curved lines and zigzags around the body. The underside bears the impressed Hamburger’s Pottery emblem and number 206. Made in Grahamstown, South Africa. The tall flared neck rises above a broad rounded lower body and small circular foot. A band of brown geometric marks occupies the widest part of the vessel. The decoration combines triangles with curved and zigzag lines, giving this example a different visual rhythm from the floral pieces in the same pottery group. For comparison, the Hamburger Potteries 261 Blue Floral Jug provides a related example in the store. The Journal’s South African Pottery Makers: A Collector's Guide to Local Ceramics gives further collector context.
