Made for Safmarine and bearing the Kalahari Ware mark, this hand-painted ceramic ashtray sits at the intersection of South African studio pottery and mid-century corporate collectables — a rare combination that gives it genuine collector appeal. The matte black recessed centre and colourful abstract decoration around the outer band are as striking today as they were in the 1960s.
