Description

A South African glazed earthenware wall pocket by Lucia Ware, designed to hold small flowers or serve as wall-mounted decoration. It has a tapered geometric body, open upper receptacle, softly rounded corners and a broad rolled rim, finished in a glossy yellow glaze. Measuring 11 cm (height) × 7.5 cm (width). It is in very good condition, with light age-related surface marks and no visible chips or cracks.

The underside bears the Lucia Ware name and impressed form number “1812”. Its open receptacle and flat-backed tapered construction identify the object as a ceramic wall pocket rather than a freestanding vase.

Yes. The underside marking confirms this as Lucia Ware form 1812, produced by Boksburg East Potteries in South Africa. It is consistent with mid-20th-century Lucia Ware production, although its exact year of manufacture is not confirmed.
