Description
Bright, cheerful and full of mid-century South African character — this Lucia Ware miniature pitcher is a small piece with considerable shelf presence, the glossy yellow glaze catching the light in a way that makes it impossible to overlook.
Produced by Lucia Ware, one of South Africa's most recognisable mid-century ceramic manufacturers, this style 1303 miniature pitcher features a sculptural curved spout, small loop handle and raised footed base. Lucia Ware produced a wide range of decorative domestic ceramics throughout the 20th century, and their miniature pitchers and ewers are popular with collectors seeking compact, colourful display pieces from the South African ceramic tradition. The style 1303 form is a particularly pleasing one, with the curved spout and footed base giving it a more refined character than many of the novelty forms in the range. This example is in visible condition as shown in the images.
