Description
This compact Unicorn Tableware dish presents Balmoral Castle in cobalt-blue transfer print, the wooded Highland setting giving the architectural subject a distinctly Scottish character. At 12 cm wide, it is an easy piece to display in a blue-and-white collection or alongside other historic building views.
Made in England by Unicorn Tableware, the dish belongs to the maker's Royal Homes of Britain range. The printed backstamp features a unicorn device and reads “Unicorn Tableware”, “Est. 1835” and “Made in England”. The establishment date refers to the historical company and does not date this individual piece. The decoration and form are consistent with vintage production from the second half of the 20th century. The dish is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or damage.
