The coupe form, with its broad shallow bowl and elevated foot, is one of the most elegant in the glassmaker's repertoire, and Empoli's execution here, with the clear stem providing a visual break between the amethyst bowl and foot, is particularly refined. Empoli amethyst glass pieces are among the more sought-after of the Italian producer's colour range, and the footed coupe form is less commonly encountered than the standard vase or pitcher shapes.
