Description
A mottled green, yellow, blue and purple glaze gives this reclining Flora Ann deer its varied surface.
A ceramic reclining deer with folded legs, an upright neck, long pointed ears and its head turned to the side. The glossy mottled glaze combines deep green, yellow, blue and purple tones, with small dark eyes.Identified as Flora Ann Potteries, South Africa. The folded legs and upright neck create a compact animal silhouette, with long ears drawing attention upwards. Mottled colour varies over the glossy surface rather than forming a fixed painted pattern. A remnant of the old paper label remains on the flank; it is part of the supplied identification record, not a complete surviving inscription. For comparison, the Joy China 4082 Glazed Terrier Dog Figurine provides a related example in the store. The Journal’s South African Pottery Makers: A Collector's Guide to Local Ceramics gives further collector context.
