Description
At 21.5 cm tall and 12 cm wide, this Lenox Tied with Love ribbed cream and gold vase with its pierced floral rim and delicate pink ribbon detail has the refined, gift-oriented elegance that characterises the best of Lenox's decorative porcelain range, the ribbed body and pierced rim giving the piece a formal complexity that a plain vase could not achieve.
Made by Lenox, the American porcelain company founded in 1889 in Trenton, New Jersey, and the first American china to be used in the White House, this vase is part of the Tied with Love range, a decorative line that combines the classic Lenox cream and gold palette with the romantic motif of a tied ribbon. The ribbed body, which gives the vase its primary textural interest, is finished in the soft cream glaze that is one of Lenox's most characteristic surface treatments, and the delicate gold trim, which follows the lines of the ribbing and the pierced floral rim, gives the piece the formal elegance associated with the Lenox brand. The pierced floral rim, in which the porcelain is cut through to create an open decorative border, is a technically demanding element that adds a note of lightness and delicacy to the top of the vase, and the pink ribbon detail, which gives the Tied with Love range its name and its romantic character, completes the piece with a warm colour accent. The piece is in very good condition throughout.
