Description

A sweeping scroll handle curves over the rounded burgundy body of this Lucia Ware model 7904 ewer.

The underside is impressed Lucia Ware 7904, identifying the range and model number. The supplied identification places manufacture at Boksburg East Potteries in South Africa. The large loop incorporates a moulded curl that continues onto the body, balanced by raised curling decoration beneath the pouring spout. A narrowed neck separates the rounded vessel from the flared lip. The ewer is presented as decorative ceramics; the pouring form alone does not establish suitability for serving drinks or guarantee watertightness. For comparison, the Lucia Ware Yellow Ceramic Miniature Pitcher Style 1303 and the Lucia Ware Hand-Painted Sailing Boat Ceramic Vase provide related examples of form, decoration or maker within the store.
