Description

The helmet is the detail that most immediately signals rank and function in the Xi'an terracotta army, and this helmeted standing warrior, at 16.5 cm tall, is the largest figure in the grouping, its additional height and the presence of the helmet giving it a natural authority in any display arrangement.

Modelled on the helmeted infantry figures of the legendary Xi'an terracotta army, this decorative statue features a clearly defined helmet, textured armour detail across the body, a formal standing pose, and an aged dark finish that together give it the quiet gravitas of the ancient sculptures that inspired it. The Xi'an terracotta army, commissioned by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, and buried with him circa 210 to 209 BCE, comprises thousands of individually detailed figures and is recognised as one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the modern era. This helmeted figure, as the tallest in the decorative grouping, makes a natural focal point in a tiered display arrangement.
