The Xi'an terracotta army, commissioned by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, and buried with him circa 210 to 209 BCE, comprises thousands of individually detailed figures and is recognised as one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the modern era. This helmeted figure, as the tallest in the decorative grouping, makes a natural focal point in a tiered display arrangement.
