Description

The topknot hairstyle is one of the most distinctive features of the Xi'an infantry figures, a detail that the original sculptors rendered with remarkable precision across thousands of individual figures, and its presence here, on this compact standing warrior, gives the piece an immediately recognisable authenticity.

Modelled on the standing infantry figures of the Xi'an terracotta army, this decorative statue features a distinctive topknot hairstyle, finely textured armour detail across the body, and an aged dark finish that together evoke the historical weight of one of the ancient world's most extraordinary artistic achievements. At 16 cm tall, this figure stands at the same height as the officer and helmeted standing figures in the grouping, making it a natural companion in a tiered display arrangement. The standing infantry pose, composed and forward-facing, is the most numerous in the original Xi'an army and the most representative of the Qin military aesthetic.
