Description
This Royal Zuid-Holland PZH Gouda ceramic plate in the Grace decor is hand-painted with a colourful floral spray in red, blue, yellow, and ochre, with green leaves, blue linework, and a pierced border with raised ochre outlines. The base is marked Grace, Royal, Zuid-Holland, and Gouda, with a PZH-style gate device, supporting attribution to Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland of Gouda, Holland. The underside also retains a Kelly's for Gifts, Port Elizabeth retailer label, which is treated as a retailer label rather than a maker's mark.
The green glazed reverse is characteristic of Royal Zuid-Holland PZH production. Visible crazing, age-related base wear, light staining, and minor surface wear are noted.
