The underside bears a printed Burleigh Ware mark reading Burslem England, together with the pattern or shape number 6452, confirming that this bowl was produced by Burleigh Ware in Burslem. Burleigh Ware, based in the Staffordshire potteries, was known during the 1930s for embossed relief decoration paired with strong contrasting glaze effects, and this handled bowl is a good example of that house style. The integrated handles and generous open form suggest the piece was intended for display or serving use in an Art Deco home, and the two tone glaze treatment remains one of the pattern's most recognisable features.
